--Junction City Commissioners have approved a commitment of $17,500 for 2025 plus $6,000 in-kind services of water and trash for the Fresh Start Emergency Shelter now.
The funds will be targeted to help with a future grant that will be sought by Fresh Start to help provide transitional housing to rapid rehousing for homeless people.
Right now Fresh Start operates as a day program but if received the grant would allow the shelter to be open at night.
--Commissioners adopted the 2025 City budget. There will not be a property tax increase. The mill levy will remain at 47.115 mills.
--The governing body approved a memorandum of understanding between the Junction City and Fort Riley Fire Departments. The MOU will allow mutual aid.
--Commissioners approved a Junction City Fire Department request to go out to bid for the purchase of a new fire engine.
--They approved Change Order #2 for the 2024 Water System Improvements in the amount of $151,046.50. This involves water line work on 5th Street.
--A special events permit was approved for the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce All Treats Day for October 24th, 2024.
