Blue Jay boys cross country team qualifies for state

Junction City Blue Jay boys cross country placed third in a Class 6A Regional Meet on Saturday in Manhattan and qualified for the state meet.

Top finishers for Junction City were Tyler Atkins in 6th place in 16:52.6, Hayden Diestelkamp 16th in 18:01.5, Isaiah Smith 18th 18:22.3, Carlos Lozano 23rd 18:52.5 and Tyler Raulston 24th in 18:54.8.

Manhattan won the team title with the low score of 20 points followed by Washburn Rural with 61 and Junction City 87 points.

On the girls side, Junction City finished fifth with a score of 128 points. Manhattan was first followed by Washburn Rural, Hutchinson and Wichita North.  

For Junction City, Lorna Rae Pierce, finished 19th in 22:06.0 and qualified for state in the individual competition as well, according to Coach Ryan Norton.
