More improvements are coming to the Fifth Street Playground Park in Junction City. They'll range from a fitness court and new picnic shelter to a pair of new water fountains and one barbecue grill.

According to the Junction City Parks and Recreation Director Joshua Gray, the City will provide $100,000 for the project plus in-kind work by the Public Works Department, and there will be financial support from Quality Play for All and a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas grant.

The project should be finished in the May - June time frame.
Previous upgrades to the park included installation of new playground equipment that was done in two phases, plus a basketball court, a sand volleyball court and I.C.A.R.E. exercise equipment.
