JC Breakfast Optimists
Nicole Green, daughter of Stephen and Lynn Green, recipient of the 2025 JC Breakfast Optimist Club Scholarship met with club members on August 5 at the Hampton Inn. Nicole is a graduate of Junction City High School and recently completed training as a cosmetologist at the Paul Mithcell, The School in Overland Park, Kansas.
She shared that a typical day of training is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which prepares students for taking two sets of State Boards. One consists of a practical application test and the other is a written test. “I love doing hair – coloring, highlighting, perms, cutting, trimming or whatever the customer requests”, she said.
Nicole’s next adventure will be to begin her training as an elementary school teacher at Kansas State University in the fall. “Both of my parents are educators. Even though I thought that would not be a career path I would take, I love working with second through fourth graders.” Nicole’s experiences with that age group come from teaching dance and swimming lessons, which she may continue to do while studying to earn her teaching license.
