Nathan Downs has been named assistant superintendent of Manhattan-Ogden USD 383.
Downs will begin his new role on July 1 and replaces Eric Reid. Reid will become the USD 383 superintendent on July 1.
Downs currently serves as the executive director of special education for Geary County USD 475 in Junction City. He has served in that position since 2018. Prior to that, he was the special education coordinator for Geary County USD 475. Downs began his career as a school psychologist in Wamego. He has also served as a school psychologist for Manhattan-Ogden USD 383. He received a B.A. and M.S. in psychology from Pittsburg State University. He also has a M.S. in educational leadership from Kansas State University.
“Over the last two decades I have devoted my life to serving the needs of our students, staff and families within the Flint Hills in public education,” Downs said. “I am humbled and excited to be blessed with the opportunity to continue doing so as the Assistant Superintendent for Manhattan-Ogden School District.”
