Junction City opens the 2022 high school football season at Hays Friday night. Blue Jay coach Randall Zimmerman expects a strong, physical and disciplined opponent in the Indians. "They're ranked #4 in the state ( Class 5A) right now and deservingly so. They're very, very good."

Zimmerman noted that the Indians have one of the best tight ends in the state, "one of the best wide receivers, a running back that had a lot of success as a sophomore, just a junior now. Their offensive and defensive fronts are just going to be really big kids."

Junction City has appeared to be very strong on defense in the early scrimmages. The Blue Jays are coming off an 8-2 season while Hays was 8-3 a year ago.

You can hear the game on 107.9 FM / 1420 KJCK AM with the pregame broadcast beginning at 6:30 and kickoff at 7 p.m.
