Notes from the weekly Geary County Commission meeting:
--Commissioners were complimentary of last week's community cleanup effort. Commissioner Kathy Tremont noted that there was a lot of positive feedback on it. In one case they learned that 200 tires were removed from a property.
--Commisssioner Keith Ascher was critical of the lengthy Convention & Visitor's Bureau Advisory Committee meeting that was held last week. He observed it needed more organization and should not be a "chat discussion."
--The next city - county - USD 475 joint meeting will be Aug. 25.
--Commissioners received praise from Ward and Kristi Upham about the response by rural firefighters last Thursday to put out a fire in a field belonging to them, and kept it from getting to their house.
