License plate reader used to arrest Manhattan shooting suspect

RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a March 3, shooting in Manhattan have reported an arrest.

Just after 10p.m. Monday, police in Wichita arrested 45-year-old Brannan Turner of Manhattan in connection with the shooting that took place on Flint Hills Place on Sunday, according to a media release from the Riley County Police Department.

Wichita police were able to utilize their license plate reader technology to aid in the arrest of Turner. Through the use of license plate reader AI algorithms, they were able to narrow down the area Turner was in, making the apprehension swift and precise.

Turner is being held in Riley County on a $500,000 bond on requested charge of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and felony flee and attempt to elude.
