Geary county Commissioners received the annual report from the Health Department Monday.
There were a number of topics touched on by Charles Martinez from the department.
--The administration updated all policies.
--There were efforts to improve trust in the community with the department.
--They worked to get the homeless shelter open.
--The department worked with other nonprofits to assist them.
--The state chose the department for the Nutrition Matters pilot program.
--Increases in teen pregnancies and STI's were identified. There will be an overall campaign on secure health awareness,
--Some harmful health behaviors had decreases including smoking and a lack of healthy foods.
