Approximately 350 people attended the Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony at the C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City on Monday. It included guest speaker, 12 year old Kenyon 'KJ' Ladson. His comments brought members of the audience to their feet with clapping and applause.
Two Coretta Scott King Awards were presented. Recipients included Daisy McTavish, an Army nurse during the Civil Rights movement and owner of Daisy Lou's Boutique, and Linda Gibson, of the House of Ruth in Junction City.

This was the 39th year for the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Junction City.
