Those who were fortunate enough to obtain a ticket can learn about the ghost stories at Fort Riley this Saturday. The annual Ghost Tours sponsored by the Historical and Archaeological Society of Fort Riley will be held from 4-8 p.m.
HASFR President Mary Teller said they sold out of tickets in about two-and-a-half days. "So this year we offered the opportunity for 240 participants. In the past there has not necessarily been an allotted number but we are still following some COVID mitigations." Tours with 20 participants per tour will start near the Custer House every 20 minutes. Registration check-in should be done about 10 minutes before each tour. The cost to go on a tour is $5.
Teller noted each tour will last for about one hour with guides providing information about some of the ghost stories. "Your tour guide will take you to the story location and then there is an actual story teller who will then give you the story."
Homes on the installation, the Cavalry Parade Field and the Trolley Station are among the stops.
The Ghost Tours raise funds to help support HASFR.
