According to the Geary County Historical Society newsletter thanks to community donations the restoration of the St. Joseph Church in the eastern part of the county has been taking off during the past year.
A leak along the tower is being repaired and fresh pavement has been laid at the front entrance. The primary improvement is that for the first time since it was built in 1910 the church has electricity. That project was completed by D.T. Electric and included clearing trees, running line underground to keep the Church's historic appearance, and installing lighting inside the church.
With electricity, the hope is to continue renovating the interior of the building. Donations are accepted. Just note that it is for the Church and the Historical Society will ensure that is how the money is spent.
You can view the changes during Acoustic Junction on Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. and listen to live music inside the church.
