Junction City finished seventh in boys and eighth in girls team competition at the Centennial League wrestling tournament. The Blue Jays scored 49 points while Washburn Rural captured the boys team title with 202.5 points. The Lady Jays scored 21 points while Washburn Rural finished first with 190 points.
JCHS coach Tyler Gonzalez had not planned to enter a full varsity team in the tournament, instead preparing for regionals and state tournaments in the future.
In girls competition a Junction City highlight included a second place finish by Charly Goodwin at 120 pounds.
For the Blue Jays Zac Petrusky finished second at 120 pounds, and Kayden Blake was second at 132. Yoel Padilla finished fourth at 113 pounds and Rowan Carey at fourth at 126.
