There will be a free Christmas meal at a residence at 13th & Jackson starting at 1 p.m. Friday, Christmas Eve, and continuing until all of the food is gone. It's a project being undertaken by Ronald Gayle with the assistance of James Lusk, both of Junction City.
Gayle has been a resident of the city for about 30 years and has operated businesses ranging from audio shops to food trucks. "The city has been great to me. I just figured this time around it's time to give back." The memory of his mother, who passed away this past year is a motivating factor. "She would take whatever she had and also give back to the community. That's probably the biggest motivator there, that I want to do the same thing that she would have done this year."
The menu will include ham, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce and a small dessert. Tables will be set up and there will be signs to alert the public to the location.
