Junction City Commissioners have given the green light for city staff to gather information that could be used to support a 2024 Defense Community Infrastructure Pilot Program or DCIP grant application. If a grant is received it would fund repair of a bridge on North Washington Street that connects the city with the Fort Riley Trooper Gate.
City Manager Allen Dinkel noted that no local match is required but the City would probably have to put some funding together. That would still have to be determined. There would also have to be support from community members and Fort Riley.
The topic could receive discussion this week with congressional staff members while a city delegation is in Washington D. C. to attend the Association of the United States Army annual convention.
A DCIP grant application would not have to be submitted until next summer. City staff will keep working forward on the project.
