UPDATE:
Some emergency warning sirens could be heard sounding Wednesday night in Geary County.
On Thursday the siren system was temporarily shut down while workers try to determine the cause of the problem. As of Thursday evening it was still shut down.
According to Junction City Public Works Director Ray Ibarra Ka-Comm, from Manhattan oversees the siren system at the JCPD and will be working to determine the cause.
No problem was detected with the portion of the siren operation overseen by Public Works.
There is not any hazardous weather in the immediate forecast.

Notice has been provided notice that some emergency warning sirens in Junction City were sounding at 5:16 p.m.
Authorities were working to locate the cause of the activation. There were not any weather issues affecting the community.
There is not any need to call 9-1-1 to see what is happening with the sirens.
