How did you get into rodeo?
I brought my family out into the country life at a young age. I tried almost everything you could do on a horse. Eventually I think the speed, while still needing to be smart and precise made the rodeo aspect with my horses stick.
What advice would you give to youth/high school rodeo athletes?
Something I recognize now, is actually finding true happiness in my failures on a horse. It makes me a better rider and competitor. I also think it creates a better connection with your horse when you work through those things. So I would tell them that losing is just as important as winning, if not more so.
What is one thing you want people to know about K-State Rodeo?
We are truly a family. We all have a passion and connection through our horses. Not only that but we support and help each other through our rodeos careers, education, and personal lives. Our team is absolutely incredible and I could not have asked for anything better.
