Geary County Commission Chairman Keith Ascher provided an update Tuesday on a recent roundtable discussion about the fairground property and the entities involved. "There's a lot of confusion about who owns what, who is in charge of what, who oversees what. "
There were breakout sessions for each group and what they're responsible for handling. Their next step will be to look through memorandums of understanding.
Ascher called it a good meeting and also noted that they need to try and get that site on city sewer service. "They're on rural water now. They'd like to go on city water.
Ascher also reported on the recent Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting where it was noted that the proposed Veterans Home for Geary County will not happen here. The next childcare meeting is scheduled Jan. 31.
