The Junction City Commission has voted for a proposed structure for the Chamber of Commerce that could be followed under an existing master agreement for the next year and a half.
There would be a seven member board of directors with no central executive. That board would function as the executive. There would be an economic development commission, military affairs council and business assistance board. The city and county would provide funding.
This will go to the County and Chamber for discussion. It was described as something that could be built upon. The vote by the commission was 4-1 with Commissioner Sam Yoskowitz opposed.
The proposal followed two executive sessions spanning a total of 25 minutes.
In other Chamber related discussion Commissioner Pat Landes thanked former Chamber President of Operations / EDC Director Mickey Fornaro-Dean for all that she did for the town. "She brought in some major businesses in the time that she was here, Michelin, Eagle Rail and many others. Every company that she worked with gave her nothing but high marks and praise." Landes added that he appreciated all the contributions Fornaro-Dean made to Junction City.
