Blue Jay artists bring home top awards

Mulitple Blue Jay Artists were recognized by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers during their 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Contest, Eastern Kansas Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition.

According to a JCHS social media post, the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest is the oldest and most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers in the U.S. Each piece is reviewed by a panel of art professionals for originality, technical skill, and an emergence of professional vision and voice.

Six Blue Jay artists were recognized this year, with 2 Gold Key Awards and 6 Silver Key Awards, which are reserved for pieces that are considered truly exemplary by experts in the field! Gold Key and Silver Key art pieces will be on display as part of the Eastern Kansas Scholastic Art Awards and featured in Mark Arts Youth Gallery and School of Creativity Gallery from February 18 – March 26, 2022.

Gold Key awards went to pieces by: Dain Cortez and Corbin Scarff. Their work is now eligible for the national competition!

Silver Key awards went to pieces by: Sophia Behm, Dain Cortez, and Corbin Scarff

Honorable Mention went to pieces by: Sophia Behm, Isabelle Brant, Annabella Lind, Morgan Masterton, and Corbin Scarff
