JCHS shines in cross country, Linden Pickler takes first

USD 475 has announced that Junction City High School freshman Linden Pickler claimed the 2024 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 6A Girls Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence. Pickler clocked a blistering time of 18:37.27 to cross the finish line in first place and bring home the programs first girls state title in school history.

 Sophomore Anna Fontaine followed in eighth place out of 100 competitors with a time of 19:13.73, while Brittney Dibben wrapped-up competition 47th overall.

On the boys’ side, the Blue Jays just missed capturing a team title, earning Class 6A State Runner-Up honors with 101 points. Ethan Fontaine led JCHS by finishing 16th overall with a time of 16:28.03, while Anthony Testa placed No. 20, clocking a time of 16:33.81. Other notables included William Dee and Everett Pickler finishing 27th and 28th overall, respectively.
