Junction City Commission news notes

You can apply to serve on the new Junction City Metropolitan Planning Commission. City Manager Allen Dinkel reported that a list will be brought to the next city commission meeting to consider for the new MPC. To apply contact city hall including the city clerk or city manager.

Dinkel said there are a few applicants but more are needed.

In other business from the Tuesday night commission meeting:

--The show Jersey Boys will be performed at the C.L. Hoover Opera House by the Junction City Little Theater the first two weekends in November. The dates and times are Nov. 3,4,10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 and 12 at 2 p.m. The show is the story of Frankie Vali & the Four Seasons.

--The Michelin and Eagle Railcar expansions are expected to result in a few hundred industrial jobs over the next few years.

--On Halloween Junction City police will have a show of force on the streets including some officers on bicycles. When the witches wail sirens sound Halloween night trick or treating will come to an end.

--Halloween related events will include All Treats Day activities downtown and at the 12th Street Community Center. plus an open skate activity at Spin City where participants can wear Halloween costumes and candy will be handed out.
