The U.S. Army designates August as “Antiterrorism Awareness Month” in an effort to encourage Soldiers, family members, and civilians throughout the community to be vigilant and observant. Fort Riley’s Antiterrorism Office emphasizes the importance of everyone in the Flint Hills communities being observant, not just those who wear a military uniform or work at Fort Riley.
“Preventing terrorism is a community effort,” says Jason Fitzpatrick, a member of Fort Riley’s antiterrorism team. “We need all of our eyes and ears to simply be observant, notice things that don’t look or sound right, and reach out to local law enforcement or the military police, if you’re on post. If you see something, say something.”
One tool the Army uses to encourage reporting of suspicious activity is the iWatch program. You can find an online reporting form on the official Fort Riley website at https://home.army.mil/riley/about/dir-staff/DPTMS/iwatch.
