Due to an increase in cases of Covid-19, flu and other respiratory viruses, the Geary County Health Department has issued a notice.

Flu and RSV vaccines are now available at the Health Department. Covid-19 vaccines are on order and can currently be obtained through local pharmacies. Ask about the deductible and co-pay prior to getting the vaccine for Covid-19.

VACCINES are the first line of defense against any disease. Geary County has the highest vaccine rate per population in the Country during the pandemic. The Federal Government is offering up to 4 free Covid-19 home tests per household and they can be requested on the CDC website cdc.gov. Because the symptoms of flu and Covid-19 are similar, please get tested either at home or through a provider. Please report any positive cases to the Health Department.

If you have any of the following symptoms of Covid-19: Fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea. (This is not a list of all the symptoms of Covid-19). Please isolate yourself at home for five days. Please do not return to work until you are fever free for 24 hours. Seek emergency treatment if you have pale, gray or blue colored skin, lips, or nail beds, confusion, pain in chest area, trouble drawing a breath. When returning to work, please wear a mask for five days.
