Lady Jay Tennis Completes Second Day of KC AREA Varsity Quads

The Lady Jay tennis team played in two Kansas City area varsity quadrangulars in the past week.  On Thursday, the Lady Jays competed in the Olathe Northwest Quad vs. Shawnee Mission West, Gardner Edgerton and Olathe Northwest.  On Monday, they were back in the area competing against Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission South and Manhattan.

On Thursday, the Lady Jays swept all 3 singles and all 3 doubles positions in their opening round vs. Shawnee Mission East, winning 6-0.  In their second round, the lone win came from the #2 doubles team of Skylor O’Sullivan and Aniela Adjei, as they defeated their Olathe Northwest opponent 8-6.  In the final round, the Lady Jays won 3 of 5 matches, with Hannah Micheel picking up a win at #1 singles, Julia Cho at #2 singles and Allyson Donoho and Hannah Huddleston at #3 doubles. 

Overall on the day, Hannah Micheel went 2-1 at #1 singles, Julia Cho 2-1 at #2 singles and Andee Moore 1-1 at #3 singles.  In doubles, Emma Young and Leila Etheridge went 1-2 at the top doubles spot, while the #2 team of Adjei and O’Sullivan and #3 doubles team of Donoho and Huddleston both went 2-1 on the day. 

On Monday, singles play led the Lady Jays in the Shawnee Mission South quad.  Hannah Micheel and Julia Cho both picked up opening round wins in singles vs. Shawnee Mission South to help the team split the four matches.  In their second round, Julia Cho was the lone winner as she blanked her Shawnee Mission East opponent 8-0.  In the final round vs. Manhattan, Hannah Micheel and Julia Cho once again found themselves on the winning side as they helped the Lady Jays to another team split in matches.  Overall, Julia Cho went undefeated at #2 singles and Hannah Micheel went 2-1 at #1 singles.  Competing in doubles for the Lady Jays were Emma Young and Leila Etheridge at the top spot and Gracie Erichsen and Allyson Donoho at the #2 doubles spot. 

The Lady Jay tennis team next competes in the Salina South Varsity Tennis Invite this Thursday, September 26.  Matches start at 9 am and will be held at the new Salina South High School Tennis Complex.
