
Sen. Moran release
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee – voted to pass an appropriations package that included federal investments for Kansas military capabilities at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth and other Kansas priorities. This package includes a short-term continuing resolution that will reopen and fund the entire federal government until January 30, 2026.
This legislation now heads to the U.S. House of Representatives to be considered. “This legislation also included annual federal funding for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and U.S. Department of Agriculture, allowing the continued operation of critical programs like SNAP and WIC.
New Investments Secured for Fort Riley:
- $26 million for Fort Riley to construct a new Air Traffic Control Tower.
- $5.5 million for Fort Riley’s Intermodal Railyard Access Control Facility to modernize the security infrastructure surrounding the Fort Riley intermodal railyard.
- $2.6 million for Fort Riley’s Intermodal Railyard Staging Area to improve the staging area at the Fort Riley intermodal railyard, allowing the 1st Infantry Division to position equipment for more efficient loading and unloading onto the rail line; this improvement supports the 1st Infantry Division’s rapid deployment requirements.
