Major General D.A. Sims has announced that Feb. 16th will be the kickoff for the Big Red One Year of Honor. "We're going to take the year and we're going to commemorate the 37 men who've earned the Medal of Honor in the Division's history. "
Sims noted that started in 1917 and will work forward to the most recent Medal of Honor recipient.
Every month there will be a day to commemorate the people from that month who earned the honor. As part of the commemoration 37 streets on Fort Riley will be renamed after those who received the honor.
