JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – The Kansas State Department of Education and Kansas Military Child Education Council (KMCEC) recently announced that Geary County Schools USD 475 was recertified as a Kansas Purple Star School District for the next three years. By being recertified, USD 475 is now officially recognized as a Kansas Purple Star School District for the school years of 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29.

The district must recertify every three years with KSDE and KMCEC to continue as a Purple Star School District, which confirms its commitment to serving its military students and families.USD 475 was the first school district in the state of Kansas to be named a Purple Star School District after initiating the program throughout the district during the fall of 2020.
