The Geary County Convention and Visitors Bureau will not operate a booth at the entire Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson in 2025. With the approval of the Geary County Commission the CVB will not continue with that practice this year. The decision will save a minimum of $11,000, freeing that money up for other uses.
CVB Director Raquel Cinco listed other potential uses for the money ranging from digital marketing and regional partnerships to local events and sports sponsorships.
The CVB will have a prescence at the State Fair on Kansas Days which are Sept. 13 and 14, at a low cost of $200 plus hotel and mileage expenses.
In past years full participation at the State Fair left the CVB understaffed for nearly two weeks during a peak tourism season in Geary County.
The entire Fair this year runs Sept. 5 - 14.
