The Dorothy Bramlage Public Library in Junction City is hosting its 2025 Summer Reading Kick-Off party this Saturday, May 3. The theme is “Color Our World.”

The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with several activities planned. Weather permitting, the Summer Reading Kick-Off event will be an indoor-outdoor celebration. The day will include balloon artists, bouncy houses, face paintings, food, and more.

The Bookmark contest winners will be announced at Noon. As a part of the announcement, Junction City Mayor Pat Landes and Geary County Commission Chairman Keith Ascher will attend to recognize the winners.

Dorothy Bramlage Public Library Director Susan Moyer explained that the summer reading program is for both students and adults. “Not only is summer reading effective in combating learning loss, but it is also a time for all to explore their reading preferences and stretch those boundaries to experience new things,” Moyer said.

The library is located at 230 W. 7th St. in Junction City. For more information about the Library, you can view their website here at jclib.org.
