This past Wednesday two Geary County Fire Investigators along with an investigator from the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office responded back to a fire scene located on Old Milford Road. Geary County Fire along with Mutual Aid assistance from Junction City Fire/EMS and Ft. Riley Fire responded to that area on Monday, December 15 at around 1:42 am for a garage fire. The fire had spread from the detached garage to nearby structures to include threatening a structure.
The Rural Fire Department noted that investigators have advised that the fire cause would be listed as undetermined but most likely was electrical in nature. The structure loss is estimated at $100,000 and contents at $100,000. There were no injuries at the scene. The owner was listed as Alan Bontrager of 7122 Old Milford Road, Milford Kansas.
