County Commission Chair comments on Sundown Salute

Sundown Salute Chair Michelle Stimatze announced last week that the 2022 Fourth of July celebration would be held in multiple locations with some activities in Junction City, some in the City of Milford and fireworks would be shot off in the Milford Lake area.

County Commission Chair Trish Giordano said she has received several calls and a couple of texts about why the celebration was moved to Milford. "That is not a county function. Sundown Salute is its own entity, its own LLC and has its own board of directors. " Giordano added that she has referred several people to Sundown Salute committee members.

"As far as it moving out to Milford I do have my concerns electricity-wise and size-wise but if they've already checked that out and have that all taken care of, I am excited about Foghat. I do like them."

In making the Sundown Salute announcement Stimatze noted that the annual parade and Veterans ceremony would continue in Junction City. Vendors, band performances and the carnival would be held in Milford, and the fireworks would be shot off from a still to be determined location in the Milford Lake area.
