CLEVELAND — Announced via Twitter Friday morning, the Major League Baseball team formerly known as the Cleveland Indians, will officially become the Cleveland Guardians.
The video, narrated by Tom Hanks highlights the City of Cleveland and its history and reveals the team's new logos in the end.
Cleveland first announced it would change its name in December, marking the first change for the franchise since 1905 according to ESPN. The decision to change came at the height of a recent national movement to remove the likeness of Native American cultures from being used as nicknames in sports for prejudicial reasons.
