The Junction City Blue Jay Tennis team competed in their Class 6A Regional Tennis Tournament over the weekend at the Riverside Tennis Center in Wichita.

Coach Matt Mikheel said Hayden Diestelkamp won his first match of the day 6-0, 6-0.  In his next match he lost in the quarterfinals.  He was defeated by a Derby opponent in his next contest, which decided a trip to the state tournament.  The top doubles team for the Blue Jays, Nate Green and Alex Matthews, lost their opening contest 4-6, 6-7 to a team from Wichita East.  Other participants for the Blue Jays were Thomas Norris in singles and Alan Leis and Nick Beier in doubles.

Manhattan won the team title.  The 6A State tournament will be held at Harmon Park in Prairie Village on May 14-15.
