The Board of Directors for the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce met in executive session for 40 minutes Thursday and then approved a series of motions.
--The Board authorized the hiring of outside legal counsel to review contracts and ensure that they are in compliance with master agreements.
--They authiorized a forensic audit over all Chamber finances to make sure that they're in compliance as a 501 C-3
--A third motion authorized all Board members to attend training to ensure that they know their roles and what needs to be done.
Board Chair Ashley King confirmed that they have scheduled a special meeting for June 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Chamber offices where they will hopefully have some answers on their contracts after meeting with legal counsel, and the forensic audit completed. Contracts with different entities such as the Military Affairs Council and Economic Dvelopment Commission are examples that can be reviewed.
The Chamber Board took no action on an Economic Development Commission recommendation for the EDC to become a separate entity effective January 1. That matter was tabled until the special meeting on June 25.
There was a full meeting room for the Chamber Board session on Thursday with Board members and public in attendance. It was standing room only.
This follows the recent termination of the MAC Director, which drew surprise reaction. That Director, Rob Wilson, was almost immediately hired on a temporary basis by the City as their military liason.
