Downtown Junction City will be the location for a May Day event on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Nate Butler, Junction City Commissioner, urged families to walk downtown. "Stop in the businesses. Businesses that have a balloon on them are participating in the event. " Butler added that you can go in and get to know the businesses. "They really want to know the people."

There will be carnations that those who attend can take from the stores, and if there is a ribbon around the bottom of it you will receive a prize from that individual store.

Butler noted that the event will be a fun thing to do. "So we're challenging people downtown and out in the community to spend the day, just spend an hour, walk down the streets of Junction City. I think it will pay dividends."
