Sundown Salute Committee Chair Michelle Stimatze confirmed this week that there has been discussion about possibly moving the Fourth of July celebration to Milford Lake, but there have been no final decisions by the committee.
Junction City Manager Allen Dinkel wants the celebration to remain in the city. "I think we need to have it here in town. The City offers a lot of resources that we've put in place." Dinkel pointed to the effort to put in place state of the art electrical hookups. "I also think in town you have all the City staff, be it parks, public works and also our police department. Would be here but wouldn't be out at the lake because not in our jurisdiction."
Next year will be the 50th year for Sundown Salute.
