Junction City Lady Jays tennis team finishes fourth at Salina South Invite

The Lady Jay tennis team traveled to Salina on Thursday for the Salina South Varsity Tennis Invite.

Eight teams participated in the event and all competitors were in the same singles and doubles flights creating 16 man brackets. The Lady Jays had two events finish in the top four. Hannah Micheel went 3-1 finishing in 3rd place. Her lone loss was to the top seeded player. However, she was able to get an 8-4 victory against a Salina South player in the 3rd place match who had defeated her earlier in the season.

In doubles, Stephanie Stanislow and Ohemaa Sarpong teamed up and won their first two rounds, before losing in the semifinals and consolation matches earning them a 4th place finish. The other Lady Jay doubles team of Rebecca Monroe and Sarah Chang went 2-2 on the day finishing in 10th place, while Julia Cho went 2-2 on the day earning 11th place. Overall, the Lady Jays team finished in 4th place.

The Lady Jays next travel to Topeka on Tuesday, September 26 for the Topeka West Tennis Invitational. Matches will start at 9 am at the Kossover Tennis Center.
