There were a number of local and area residents and officials who spoke Tuesday night to ask the Junction City Commission to reconsider keeping the City as a member of the Flint Hills Regional Council.

Those supporting that move included Nate Butler, Bruce MacMillan , Terry Butler, Kendall Schoenrock, Bob and Theresa Bramlage, Michaela Joyce, Janna Williams and the Council's Director Michael Couch.

They pointed out the benefits of belonging to the organization ranging from support that has occurred for the Junction City Main Street program and having a voice at the table from an economic development perspective to receiving guidance, support and connectivity.

Commissioner Al Gordon said he wants the Flint Hills Regional Council to be reconsidered. "I think it's more viable for us to be a part and having a seat at the table than not." Commissioner Ronna Larson said she also wants the issue back on the agenda.

Back on Jan. 3rd the city commission let die for lack of a second a motion renewing the annual membership to the Flint Hills Regional Council. The City did not budget for membership this year. That fee would have totaled $20,000.
