JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – Geary County Schools USD 475 announced that Dr. Reginald Eggleston, USD 475 Superintendent of Schools, was named the 2026 Kansas Superintendent of the Year by the Kansas School Superintendents Association on Monday morning.
“I am truly honored and humbled to receive this award. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to God, my staff and to everyone across USD 475 for their dedication and commitment to making a positive impact on our students’ education, daily. This recognition would not be possible without their hard work and support. It is truly meaningful to represent not only our district, but also the state and public education as a whole,” said Eggleston.
By being named the 2026 Kansas Superintendent of the Year, Eggleston will be honored alongside fellow finalists Dr. Jessica Dain of Piper USD 202 and Jamie Rumford of Scott County USD 466 at the 2026 Superintendent of the Year Gala on Thursday, Nov. 13 in Wichita. As the 2026 Kansas Superintendent of the Year honoree, Dr. Eggleston’s application will now be submitted to the AASA, the National School Superintendents Association, for consideration as the 2026 National Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Eggleston has served as the Superintendent of Schools in USD 475 every year since 2019. During his tenure, Dr. Eggleston has overseen transformative initiatives that address the academic, social and emotional needs of all USD 475 students. His strategic vision includes robust financial planning and community partnerships, ensuring sustainable success and equity for over 7,000 students and 1,300 employees.
Dr. Eggleston is a Colonel in the Army Reserves with over 30 plus years of military experience.
