At the 2026 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 6A Boys Swimming Championships on Saturday, sophomore Brennen Doan, who is a two-time state qualifier, placed in the top 16 in the Boys 100 Yard Butterfly as he clocked a time of 59.05 seconds in the consolation finals at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center.
The Junction City High School USD 475 boys wrestling team had a banner weekend as the Blue Jays saw Avery Florence and Cody Owens place in the top three overall at the KSHSAA Boys Class 6A West Regional on Saturday in Wichita. In all, JCHS advanced six student-athletes to the Class 6A State Championship, which will take place in Overland Park, beginning on Friday, Feb. 27. State qualifiers included Riley Luckenbill (113 pounds), Jayden Melton (126 pounds), Owens (165 pounds), Christian Simmers (190 pounds), Chris Coy (215 pounds) and Florence (heavyweight). Results: h
