With nearly 230 personnel on site, progress on the new school construction remains on schedule. Hutton Construction expects the number of personnel to increase to more than 300 hundred by mid-February.

The freshman, science, and business academies are now heated allowing the installation of ceiling grids and the painting of completed drywall. Ceramic tile is installed throughout the educational corridor and restroom areas. Cabinetry is arriving and is starting to be placed. Installation of flooring is scheduled to start in early December.

Fireproofing of the main entrance, front offices, and fine arts area is progressing a little ahead of schedule. Framing and roofing in these areas is ongoing as is roof decking.

The football concessions masonry work is well underway, the field itself is being prepared for turf placement with the track curbs now completed. Weather permitting, three inches of asphalt underlayment for the running track will be placed prior to early December. Backfill of the home bleachers is also underway. Visitor bleachers are scheduled to be moved from the current high school after Thanksgiving break.

General work continues on low-voltage and audio-visual placement. Camera type and placement plans are under final review. Athletics scoreboards are in production while ongoing discussions for audio-visual integration are proceeding. A plan for keying nearly 900 doors is being developed as is interior signage and graphics packages.

During its upcoming working meeting the Board of Education will be provided an update on opening the 400,000 square foot new Junction City High school in August 2021.
