Unveiling of a new library and media center at Lincoln Elementary School in Junction City occurred on Thursday. This was a project of the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, School Specialty and Eckrich.

Daniel Dinkel, Principal, stated, "At Lincoln the library is the  hub of learning in school." Courtney Eichorn, Associate Superintendent, noted that the new library will be a "great place for learning."

The space will feature new furniture and technology provided by School Specialty. Research shows that transformed learning environments support teachers' needs and can result in enthusiastic learners for years to come. Lincoln Elementary is one of five Extra Yard Makeovers provided with the support of Eckrich.

The project is part of the CFP Foundation’s mission to uplift teachers in grades K-12 and is made possible through the support of School Specialty and Eckrich. This specific city holds a special place for Eckrich since Junction City plays a critical role in bringing Eckrich products to family kitchen tables every day.

During the celebration at Lincoln Elementary one first grade teacher, Jennifer Malcolm, received a check for $1,000. She has been employed as a first grade teacher in USD 475 for 24 years including 10 at Westwood Elementary and the remainder at Lincoln Elementary.

Malcolm indicated that she plans to spend the money on the school children, with one possibility involving technology.
