
POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just after 5:30p.m. Wednesday in Pottawatomie County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Western semi driven by Mark E Stanwix, 44, Lecompton, was eastbound on U.S. 24 just west of Airport Road.
The semi rear-ended a 2008 Ford Edge driven by Megan K. Schindler, 34, St. Mary's, who was slowing and coming up behind a 2013 Ford F250 driven by Randy L. Tinkel, 37, Wamego, who was stopped waiting to make a left turn. The impact pushed the semi and Ford Edge into the pickup.
The Ford Edge came to rest on its side north of the roadway. The Ford F250 came to rest on the south side of the roadway on its roof. The semi came to rest on the south of the roadway in a field.
Randy Tinkel was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Stewart's Funeral Home.
EMS transported a 2-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy in the pickup to Children's Mercy. EMS transported a third passenger in the Ford F 250 Jillian C Tinkel, 36, Wamego, to Wamego Health Center.
EMS transported Schindler to Stormont Vail. Stanwix was not injured. The adults in the Ford F250 were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
