USD 475 Board of Education addresses multiple topics

--The Geary County Schools USD 475 Board of Education has authorized a $1,000 retention payment for all returning classified staff and a $750 recruitment payment for all new classified staff who are employed by Monday, Sept. 16. These funds will be paid from ESSER funds which must be exhausted by Monday, Sept. 30.

--On Tuesday night, the board approved the recommendation from staff to issue Carroll Seating, Inc., the award to replace the Junction City Middle School scoreboard, which was recently damaged in a storm, for approximately $43,754.66.

Carroll Seating, Inc., proposed a new Nevco Model 3625 football and soccer scoreboard. This price includes the demolition of the destroyed scoreboard, the new scoreboard, freight, excavation, and installation.

--The Board of Education approved the 2024-25 budget as presented for final preparation and filing. The Building Needs Assessment and State Assessments were provided to the Board of Education and were evaluated by the BOE. They were also used in the Budget Approval Process. The levy of property taxes exceeding the Revenue Neutral Tax Rates was calculated for 2024-2025 and adopted for the following funds: General Fund, Supplemental General Fund (LOB), Capital Outlay, and Bond and Interest No. 1.
