Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus opened in Junction City last Jan. 1, succeeding the former Geary Community Hospital.
Keith Ascher, Geary County Commission Chairman, said, "It's been a very good relationship." He noted that Stormont Vail is pleased with how things are going. "It doesn't happen overnight but they're doing a good job. They see the potential here."
Ascher said if you talk to people on the street they're happy with the change, but there will be more to come. "They have a very positive attitude. They seem to work well with people."
The commissioner observed that Stormont Vail tries to keep as many patients at the hospital in Junction City as possible but can't provide all the services. In the future the intent is to get more doctors, surgeries and services.
