Colonel Paul Krattiger, commander of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will turn over command of the “Devil Brigade” to Colonel Brian McCarthy during a change of command ceremony Friday at 11 a.m. at Fort Riley’s Cavalry Parade Field.
The event marks the end of Col. Krattiger’s two years in command of the unit that included a successful rotation to Europe and efforts to protect the Fort Riley community and maintain readiness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Col. Krattiger will assume duties as the Chief of Staff, 1st Infantry Division, later this month.
Maj. Gen. D.A. Sims, 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley commanding general, will host the change of command ceremony. The 1st Infantry Division Band and the Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard will also participate in the ceremony.
