Geary County Rural Fire was dispatched on Sunday around 6:00 p.m. to 2413 S. Milford lake Road for a structure fire. Three fire units and 2 supervisor vehicles responded. Junction City Fire/EMS sent a medical unit for standby.
The fire was contained to the hot water room located on the northwest corner of the residence. Units were able to knock down the fire and prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the residence. The resident safely exited the structure prior to fire units arriving on scene. A dog and several cats were located inside the residence and they were all fine.
Cause is being ruled accidental due to an electrical issue.
