Nebraska drug suspect also wanted in Geary County

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on drug allegations.

Just before 9p.m. May 26, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Buick LeSabre for allegedly operating with defective equipment near 110th Road on U.S. Highway 75 in rural Jackson County, according to Sheriff Tim Morse. The driver, Darryl Huggins, 65, of Omaha, Nebraska, was arrested on three outstanding warrants.

A Jackson County Sheriff’s K-9 was deployed around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside. Deputies located methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Huggins was transported and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while a habitual violator.

Huggins was also being held on an outstanding warrant from Cloud County, Kansas, for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia; a warrant from Geary County, Kansas, for contempt of court; and a warrant out of Omaha, Nebraska, for dangerous drugs.
