United Way Director Nichole Mader said Stuff the Bus school supplies for children were picked up by USD 475 for the upcoming school year. This is the program where the public donates school supplies for children in the school district.
Mader said more than 50 boxes of supplies were distributed to the schools. "We brought in over 6,500 pieces and we raised $3,687.72 in donations." The number of school items or pieces received were down a little this year, but Mader expects the cash donations to be a record. She also noted that Stuff the Bus was able to adopt a few more backpacks with school supplies this year. "And then we're looking at ways to partner with the school to provide maybe a something a little bit extra that maybe the teachers need. One year we did headphones so this year we're looking to see what else we can do."
